Oh, The Friends I've Made!

I have been working with animals for over 20 years.  From 10 yrs with the Longmont Humane Society, to Mountain Pet Rescue, Freedom Service Dogs, and Disco's Dogs, Inc, my love of animals is evident as my career has progressed. Working with people to understand and bond with their pets is more of a calling than a career.

I do private, in home teaching. Puppies, Basics, Advanced, CGC Prep and Evaluation, Therapy Dogs, Service Dogs, and Behavior Modification. I specialize in dogs who are considered "fear based".

Let Me Introduce Myself!

My name is Kacy, and I believe the most remarkable thing about humans is our ability to consciously affect change. For this reason, I have dedicated my life to being a voice for those without one. From Positive Reinforcement Dog Training to Rescue, I surround myself with opportunities to change the lives I encounter for the better.

I am a firm believer in the saying that you "get what you give," and I live by the quote, "Above all, do not appear to others what you are not." I will always choose what is "right" over what is "convenient" and believe that honesty and integrity are characteristics one must actively maintain. These beliefs show in my training style.

After 20 yrs of working with pets, I started my own business in June of 2013; Canine Experience, LLC (www.Caninexp.Com) became my labor of love. As a full-time Positive Reinforcement Dog Trainer and Behavior Consultant, I can maintain the high standards, ethics, and communication that I live by. I am always learning, growing, and pushing myself personally and professionally. Canine Experience, LLC is the result of that. I also earned my accreditation in Trust Centered Training and am the first person in Colorado to have done so.  There is much more to the learning/teaching process than training the dog.

Also, in June of 2013, I took a position as head trainer for Disco's Dogs, Inc, where I led people to train service dogs for their kids on the autism spectrum. This allowed me to work closely with some incredible dog/kid teams. Understanding the dynamic between a dog and the human they are tasked with caring for is a huge privilege that I do not take lightly. My work with Disco's Dogs, Inc ended in July 2017, when DDI merged with Freedom Service Dogs. I opted to continue teaching on a smaller scale and specifically work with families that already have a dog they would like to train to be Service Dog.

Three days a week, I worked at Pawdners Pet Resort, assisting the dogs that needed a little "extra" while they learned to socialize appropriately with their friends. This allowed me to get my "dog fix" with some of the most incredible dogs. Additionally, I continue volunteering with Mountain Pet Rescue, where I sat on the board for a few years, and Foothills Animal Shelter in Golden, Colorado.

Beginning in 2022, I am pleased to be working with individuals and their service dogs in training through Sunrise Service Dogs, located in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Sunrise Service Dogs is a Colorado nonprofit seeking to fill the gaps in helping people obtain and train service dogs.

In December of 2020, we got the opportunity of a lifetime! My parents decided to sell us their mountain home in Florissant. We packed our bags and are now living the dream! I continue to offer my services virtually and in person (just a bit farther south now).

I look forward to bringing Trust Centered Training to all of the humans I work with, and further enhancing the bond they have with all of their pets. I can't wait to spread the long-held belief I've had, that learning shouldn't hurt!

The greatest thing we can do for ourselves is to do for those who love us.
