I have been working with animals for over 20 years. From 10 yrs with the Longmont Humane Society, to Mountain Pet Rescue, Freedom Service Dogs, and Disco's Dogs, Inc, my love of animals is evident as my career has progressed. Working with people to understand and bond with their pets is more of a calling than a career.
I do private, in home teaching. Puppies, Basics, Advanced, CGC Prep and Evaluation, Therapy Dogs, Service Dogs, and Behavior Modification. I specialize in dogs who are considered "fear based".
Let Me Introduce Myself!
My name is Kacy, and I believe that the greatest thing about humans is our ability to consciously effect change. For this reason, I have dedicated my life to being a voice for those without one.
From Positive Reinforcement Dog Training to Rescue, I surround myself with opportunities to change the lives I come into contact with for the better.
I am a firm believer in the saying that you "get what you give", and I live by the quote "Above all, do not appear to others what you are not". I will always chose what is "right" over what is "convenient", and believe that honesty and integrity are characteristics one must actively maintain.
After 20 yrs of working with pets, I started my own business in June of 2013, Canine Experience, LLC became my labor of love. As a full time Positive Reinforcement Dog Trainer and Behavior Consultant, I am able to maintain the high level of standards, ethics, and communication that I live by. I am always learning, growing, and pushing myself - both personally and professionally. Canine Experience, LLC is the result of that. I am accredited in Trust Centered Training, and am the first person in Colorado to have received that accreditation. Shortly thereafter I changed my title from "Dog Trainer" to "Canine Life Coach". Really, there is SO much more to the learning/teaching process than simply training the dog.
Also in June of 2013, I became the Head Trainer for Disco's Dogs, Inc, where I taught people to train service dogs for their kids on the autism spectrum. This allowed me to work closely with some incredible dog/kid teams. Understanding the dynamic between a dog and the human they are tasked with caring for is a huge priviledge that I do not take lightly. My work with Disco's Dogs, Inc ended in July of 2017, when DDI merged with Freedom Service Dogs. I decided to continue teaching on a smaller scale, and specifically work with families that already have a dog that they would like to teach to be Service Dogs.
Three days a week I work at Pawdners Doggie Daycare, assisting the dogs that need a little "extra" while they learn to socialize appropriately with their friends. This allows me to get my "dog fix" with some of the greatest dogs around. Additionally, I continue to volunteer with Mountain Pet Rescue, where I sat on the board for a few years, and Foothills Animal Shelter in Golden, Colorado.
I look forward to bringing Bond Based Choice Teaching to all of the humans I work with, and further enhancing the bond they have with all of their pets. I can't wait to spread the long held belief I've had, that learning shouldn't hurt! The greatest thing we can do for ourselves is to do for those who love us.
